Parts of Toronto Pearson International Airport had to be locked down after a man was shot and killed by police.
Terminal 1 Departures at the major airport had to be closed due to a ‘police-involved shooting’ on Tuesday morning.
Police have since confirmed that a man in his 30’s was shot and killed after officers responded to a ‘man in distress’ in a SUV at the terminal just before 7am.
Officials said that police had been called to deal with a dispute outside of the departure terminal involving a group of people.
After arriving on the scene, one of the men involved pulled out a firearm, causing the officers to open fire.
Two officers shot the man, who has not yet been identified. Officials said that the officers were not hurt in the incident. The man was transported to a hospital.
Images taken at the scene show the body of man on the ground next to a blacked out SUV underneath a yellow tarp.
Caution tape can be seen surrounding the scene, officers also used Starbucks coffee cups to seemingly indicate evidence around the scene.
