Former First Lady Michelle Obama has launched a new podcast, IMO, alongside her brother Craig Robinson, where she opened up about her personal life and addressed persistent rumors surrounding her marriage to Barack Obama.
“I couldn’t have gotten through eight years in the White House without my big brother,” Michelle said, reflecting on her time as first lady from 2009 to 2017. She admitted politics was never her passion, but it was Craig who convinced her to support Barack’s presidential run.
The podcast will feature discussions on marriage, parenting, dating, and friendships, drawing from both hosts’ personal experiences—including Craig’s divorce and remarriage.
The show also aims to address recent divorce rumors involving the Obamas, which had even escalated to false claims that Barack was dating Friends actress Jennifer Aniston—claims she denied, saying she’d only met the former president once.
Michelle appeared on Sophia Bush’s podcast, Work in Progress, and shared how life has changed since her daughters moved out. “It’s whatever I want,” she said, calling her new chapter as an “empty nester” liberating.
She emphasized how society often struggles with women choosing themselves: “People couldn’t even fathom I was making a choice for myself—they had to assume Barack and I were divorcing.”
The rumors followed Michelle’s absence from events like Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration.
