The star’s mother, Patricia, was 87 years old, and her sister, Alison, was 63. Carey did not disclose the cause of their deaths, but she expressed her emotional state as follows:

“My heart is broken, as I lost my mother last weekend. Sadly, due to a tragic turn of events, my sister also passed away on the same day. I am grateful that I was able to spend the last week with my mother before her passing. I appreciate the love and support from everyone and ask for respect for my privacy during this difficult time.”
