Roxanne Gilmore, the former first lady of Virginia, died Wednesday morning.
The former first lady and Virginia native died Wednesday morning “after an extended illness,” according to a statement from her husband, former Gov. James Gilmore
James Gilmore went on to list several milestones in her life, including how they met and married while attending the University of Virginia.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin shared his reaction to her death in a release from his office.
“Suzanne and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend, former First Lady Roxane Gilmore,” Youngkin said in the release. “Our prayers are with Governor Gilmore, his sons Jay and Ashton, their families and Roxane’s extended family. Virginia has lost a wonderful woman who touched the lives of many Virginians.”
