A 41-year-old cyclist in Barangay Banaoang, Calasiao, Pangasinan died after he lost control of his bicycle and crashed into a concrete pole while being chased by a dog.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showed a man in an orange shirt riding a bicycle when a dog chased him suddenly. The chase reached about half a kilometer.

The cyclist, identified as Julius Palara, 41, lost control of his bike and collided with a concrete pole.

“Hindi niya namalayan na ang poste ang papatay sa kanya. Mabilis kasi ang takbo. Sa kakatingin niya sa aso, hindi niya namalayan na sasalpok [na siya] sa poste,” Arnulfo Palara, a relative of the victim, said.

Palara sustained severe injuries in his head and other parts of his body.
