Family’s Holiday Card Photo Sparks Outrage After People Spot Small Detail, Some Call It ‘Nasty’

A holiday card photo shared by U.S.-based influencer Amanda Cooper has gone viral after a hidden prank divided social media. While some called it “nasty,” others praised the humor.

Cooper, who has over 15,000 Instagram followers, revealed that every year her mom, Melynda King, organizes a family holiday photo. But this time, Cooper and her siblings planned a prank: during the shoot, they each subtly gave the camera the middle finger without their mom noticing.

In a viral Instagram Reel with over 19 million views, Cooper is seen cueing the prank by shouting, “Everyone say, I want a hippopotamus for Christmas!” Her mom didn’t notice until later — and surprisingly, she loved it, saying it was “absolutely hilarious.”

Despite mixed reactions, the prank has become a viral talking point — and may even evolve into a family tradition in future holiday shoots.
