The final moments of Aeroflot Flight 593, which crashed in Siberia on March 23, 1994, killing all 75 onboard, were captured in a black box recording.
Relief pilot Yaroslav Kudrinsky had recklessly allowed his children, Yana (12) and Eldar (16), into the cockpit. Though the autopilot was on, Eldar accidentally disabled it by applying too much force to the controls, unknowingly taking full control of the aircraft.
Pilots quickly realized something was wrong as the plane veered sharply. The Airbus A310 couldn’t handle the extreme 90-degree bank, leading to a rapid descent. Though the crew briefly recovered from the dive, they misjudged the force, causing another stall.
Kudrinsky, realizing the severity of the situation, urged his son, “Go to the back, Eldar!” and tried to downplay the danger, saying, “All is normal.” But the disaster was unavoidable.
The recording then cuts out as the plane crashes into the Kuznetsk Alatau mountain range at 160 mph.
