Donald Trump is set to ban travelers from 43 countries, with Russian visas “sharply restricted” and Belarus facing heavy sanctions, The New York Times reports. The move comes as Trump navigates ceasefire talks between Putin and Zelensky, warning of a potential World War III.
The policy divides countries into three groups: 11 nations, including Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea, face full visa suspensions; 10 others, including key allies of Moscow, will see partial suspensions affecting tourist and student visas. Another 22 countries have 60 days to address concerns or risk restrictions.
A U.S. official noted the list is not final, but critics compare it to Trump’s controversial 2017 “Muslim ban.”
