Our House Was Egged on Christmas — I Was Flabbergasted When I Found Out Who Did It

When Ellie’s family returns from their Christmas vacation, they find their house vandalized with eggs and a cryptic note: “This is for what you took from me before Christmas.” Shocked and determined to uncover the culprit, Ellie checks security footage and is stunned to discover the vandal is her own mother.

Confronting her reveals years of resentment stemming from a misunderstanding. Ellie’s mother believed Ellie had taken her mother-in-law, Gloria, on the trip, leaving her behind and feeling invisible. In reality, Gloria had fabricated the story to provoke jealousy.

Ellie realizes her mother’s loneliness and guilt and admits she’s unintentionally let their relationship drift due to the demands of life. The two reconcile, working together to clean the house and rebuild their bond. Ellie invites her mother to spend New Year’s Eve with the family, rekindling their connection.

Later, Ethan confronts Gloria, who admits her lie was rooted in her own loneliness. With encouragement, both mothers work to mend their relationship, forming a close friendship that brings joy to the family.

Through the ordeal, Ellie learns the importance of prioritizing relationships, and her family begins a fresh chapter with stronger connections—and a newfound aversion to eggs.
