Here’s How Jesus Really Looked Like – FINALLY Revealed After 2,000 Years

The appearance of Jesus Christ has been debated for centuries. While Renaissance art often depicts him as a tall, blond European, historians argue that a Jewish carpenter in first-century Palestine likely had a stockier frame, dark skin, and curly black hair.

Recently, Dutch artist Bas Uterwijk used AI software Artbreeder to create a “historically accurate” image of Jesus. Combining Byzantine and Renaissance depictions, the Turin Shroud, and Fayum mummy portraits, Uterwijk crafted a Middle Eastern face, adjusting hair and beard for historical credibility. He emphasized the artistic nature of his work, not a scientific recreation.

Historian Joan Taylor supports the view that Jesus likely had olive skin, dark hair, and brown eyes, consistent with artifacts and writings from the time. She notes that traditional depictions, featuring long hair and pale skin, emerged centuries later and don’t align with historical evidence. Jesus was likely about 5’5″, wore simple clothing, and resembled the average Jewish man of the 1st century.

Forensic reconstructions, like Richard Neave’s 2001 depiction, also align with this view, basing Jesus’ appearance on skulls from the region. Overall, Jesus would have looked like an ordinary Judean man of his era.
